Illustrator Shagun Puri juxtaposes vintage portraits with modernity and colour
"A wanderer, procrastinator and a digital designer" is how Shagun Puri describes herself. A multimedia designer from Delhi, Shagun has lived in four cities across India and has travelled to over thirty. A recent member to join digital agency Toaster, we can only expect more wonderful things from her.
Besides honing her design skills, she says she has a "keen interest in integrating art and culture in design". Whilst transitioning between Bangalore and Delhi, she began exploring collage making. "I consider it a fabulous way to explore graphic design altogether" says Shagun.
The creative nomad has a sharp eye for detail and got our attention with her Urbintage series of illustrations. The on-going personal project juxtaposes vintage portraits with contemporary design elements such as geometry, form and colour in order to achieve a minimalistic yet vibrant visual composition. "Each creation captures a different mood and expression with its combination of elements" explains Shagun. Keep your eyes peeled for more illustrations to be added to this on-going series on Shagun's Behance.
